Mike, Air Jordan, your greatness… If you are reading this don’t let the name of this site fool you, you are my dad - just, not in the traditional sense.

So what on earth could this 5’8” (5’9” when I jump) white guy that bears absolutely no resemblance to you be talking about? Well for starters, let me assure you that I am not some crazy fan (not certifiably anyways).

My name is Jeremy Salzman and my story is I, like many fatherless kids, turned to my heroes for fatherly guidance. And that hero Mike was you.

Growing up, I spent countless hours watching your every game and following your every move. The buzzer beater over Ehlo, the 63 on Boston and the “flu” game are forever ingrained in my mind. But more than your feats of greatness, it was your commitment to excellence for the game you loved, your candor off the court, and your ferocious competitive fire on it that inspired me to live my life in the very same fashion.

For this reason Mike, when someone asks me who my father is, I don’t point to the man with whom I share half my genes, but to the person that through a tiny television set, motivated me to be better. Mike I point to you, and while I know it’s a role you never intended to fill, I thank you just the same.

So you’re probably wondering then… why the website? And what’s with that striking Sears portrait of you and I together?

Well naturally, like any son, I want to play my dad in a game of basketball. And I thought since you’re super busy and all, perhaps we could play just one game at your Michael Jordan Flight School. It’d be a dream come true Mike.

There is only just one problem. The registration fee for your camp is so far beyond me, that I would need to work for the next 200 years to afford it. That is unless… and dare I ask… if I make my way down to your camp, would you graciously let me on the court and have that one game with you?
